Hugh Jackman Injured During 'Oprah' Stunt!

Hugh Jackman was determined to make a high-flying entrance to The Oprah Winfrey Show on Tuesday. Unfortunately his dramatic stunt didn't exactly go as planned.

Jackman, 42, stopped by to visit Oprah Winfrey as she films her show in Australia, the destination of her big season premiere giveaway surprise. But his attempt to zip-line from the top Sydney Opera House onto Oprah's stage proved to be more dangerous than he thought.

The risky stunt hit a snag when the Aussie native, in front of a crowd of 6,000, didn't stop in time and smashed into a lighting fixture. The actor hit his leg on the lighting rig and a piece of the fixture flew right at his eye!

RadarOnline.com notes that after being tended to by paramedics, a bruised and bloodied Jackman finally sat down with Winfrey. 

Both couldn't help but talk about the collision when he finally arrived on stage, noticeably worse for the wear. "I’ve never been hugged by a paramedic," he joked. Jackman tended to his cut by putting ice on it, telling Winfrey and the crowd, "It's going to swell."

"That was so much fun until the end," said Jackman, who sustained a minor head injury. He then joked that one of Oprah's other guests Down Under, Bono, "was meant to do this, but they couldn't afford the insurance." 

So what caused Jackman to careen into the stage? The excitement of the moment! "I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbor, saw my dad, the kids and you, went to pull the brake and then boing," he explained.

Still, Jackman is taking full responsibility for the mishap, telling the 56-year-old host it was "totally my bad."

The scary moment startled the audience, which included his young children. According to People, after chatting with Winfrey, Jackman hurried to comfort his 10-year-old son Oscar, who was understandably upset up by the mishap.

Entertainment Weekly reports, "a clearly shaken" Winfrey told her fans, "Ohhhh, we’re gonna hear about that...Ohhhh, that’s gonna play on the news, over and over and over again."
