Robert Pattinson's relationship with his rumored real-life leading lady Kristen Stewart is every bit as tortured as that of their Edward and Bella alter-egos in The Twilight Saga. In an interview with Vanity Fair, the 24-year-old actor admits the media attention surrounding his still(!) unconfirmed romance with Stewart, 20, is "just very traumatic."
"When this is over," he says of Twilight mania, "the media will lose interest (in the relationship). There'll be nothing to say. It won't fit into a headline anymore. It won't fit into the template."
Pattinson tells the magazine he admired Stewart even before they worked together. "She's cool. Even before I knew her I thought she was a really good actress," he says. "Like, I saw Into the Wild, and I thought she was really good in that. I still think there are very few girls in her class as good as she is."
In the interview, Pattinson also opens up about his unexpected favorite costar: the elephant named Tai he worked with on his upcoming film Water for Elephants. "She was the best actor I ever worked with in my life," he says. "I cried when the elephant was wrapped. I never cried when anyone else wrapped."
Although Reese Witherspoon has praised her younger costar's strong work ethic and scandal-free life, Pattison confesses he admires Charlie Sheen and his "little escapades."
"I like crazy people who don't give a f***," he says. In fact, one of his favorite shows is Two and a Half Men. "I never change the channel in my trailer," he says. "I just watch reruns of House of Payne and Two and a Half Men. I love Cops -- I think it's my favorite TV show... God, I sound like such a loser."
Pattinson admits to struggling with his Twilight mega-fame, and says he doesn’t "really know myself (as) well" as so many of his super-fans feel like they know him. So far, he seems to be handling things pretty well. Let's just hope he doesn't pull a Charlie Sheen years later on down the line.
