Jumping out to a commanding lead as was expected, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" took charge of first place at the box office over the weekend of November 18-20, 2011.
The Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner starring vampire picture snatched up a dominant $72 million on opening day and $42 million more on Saturday while expected to close with a $142 million debut weekend.
Settling for the runner-up slot is another cinema newcomer, with the family animated tale "Happy Feet Two" scoring $5.9 million on Friday and $9.6 million on Saturday for an approximate $21.8 million opening weekend take.
Rounding out the top five at the box office in estimated weekend totals were the Henry Cavill/Freida Pinto fronted warrior movie "Immortals" ($12.5 million), followed by Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes' "Jack and Jill" ($12.3 million) and "Puss In Boots" ($10.8 million).
