Topping the competition with ease while posting solid opening numbers, "Hotel Transylvania" is perched atop the box office to begin the weekend of September 28-30, 2012.
The Sony Pictures Animation crafted family comedy, which features the voices of Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez, enjoyed an estimated first day take of $11 million while projected to boast debut weekend sales of $38.3 million.
Also a theatrical newcomer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt's sci-fi thriller "Looper" is off to a fine start with an estimated $7 million opening day putting it in line for a three day total of $19.7 million.
Filling out the top five at the box office in earmarked earnings are a trio of motion pictures in their second week of release, with third place going to the Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake and Amy Adams helmed drama "Trouble with the Curve" ($7.1 million), which is outpacing Jennifer Lawrence's horror/thriller "House At The End Of The Street" ($7.0 million) and Jake Gyllenhaal's crime drama "End of Watch" ($6.9 million).
