Are you ready for an American Reunion? Twelve years after the premiere of that iconic gross-out comedy American Pie, the original cast is back for a brand-new film about life, love and band camp (due in theaters April 6, 2012). Watch them snap some high-school reunion pics in the teaser trailer below!
We haven't seen some of those faces in a while, right? In addition to father figure Eugene Levy -- the only actor who's appeared in the three previous feature films and the cornucopia of straight-to-video sequels -- the eight returning Pie kids include Jason Biggs (Jim), Seann William Scott (Stifler), Chris Klein (Oz), Thomas Ian Nicholas (Kevin), Mena Suvari (Heather), Tara Reid (Vicky), Eddie Kaye Thomas (Finch), and of course, Alyson Hannigan, who played band geek Michelle long before starring in How I Met Your Mother. Now that all these actors are in their 30s, should we prepare for a more sophisticated sequel?
Not according to Seann William Scott.
"In many respects we've grown up a lot," the actor, 34, tells People. "But on the other hand we haven't grown up at all. On-set, Jason Biggs was farting up a storm, Chris Klein was belching, and Eddie Kaye Thomas and Biggs were hitting each other in (the groin)."
Just like old times! But in an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hannigan, 37, revealed that the characters are indeed more mature -- just nostalgic for old times.
"We're still married, and we have a child," real-life mom Hannigan says of characters Michelle and Jim. "So we're navigating the waters of parenthood and how that changes the dynamics of a relationship. But also they're going back to their high-school reunion and so there's some nostalgia there of, 'Aw, remember what we were like when we first met?'"
That sentimental feeling exists among the cast, too.
"We realized that no matter how much we may have changed individually, as a group we will always be connected and have a special chemistry that arises immediately when we're together," Jason Biggs tells People.
"The great thing about this franchise is that, of course, there's the raunchy humor but there's also a lot of heart to it," adds Hannigan. "And this fourth movie does not miss the boat on that at all."
Plus it's the one high school reunion where there's no one we have to dread seeing!
