Taylor Lautner Eyes Gus Van Sant's "Next"

He?s always looking for ways to expand his career horizons, and Taylor Lautner has reportedly signed on to star and produce and independent film.

The still-untitled project will be directed by Gus Van Sant and based on an unspecified New Yorker article to which Lautner purchased the rights.

And given the lukewarm response to his latest film ?Abduction,? Taylor is likely looking to prove himself as an actor outside the realm of his ?Twilight? success.

Speaking of ?Twilight,? ?Breaking Dawn Part 1? is due in theaters this month, and Taylor is gearing up for a massive press tour.
