ANTM Runner-Up Yaya DaCosta Cast as Whitney Houston in Lifetime Biopic

Actress and America’s Next Top Model runner up Yaya DaCosta has has been cast as Whitney Houston in the Lifetime channel biopic. The official announcement comes in the midst of controversy over the movie itself. The 30-year-old Yaya DaCosta has the much coveted role of the legendary diva in the television movie — as yet untitled– which will be directed by Angela Bassett (‘American Horror Story’). A graduate of Brown University, she first came to prominence in Cycle 3 of ANTM which saw her as the runner up. In the years since, she has since gone on to appear in several television shows including ‘Ugly Betty’ and ‘House’ and was recently seen on the big screen in ‘The Kids Are All Right,’ and more recently in ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler.’ First announced by TVLine and later confirmed officially the news has gone viral and, as always, the case, social media is abuzz with reactions.
